Making mistakes on purpose?

You betcha! “I don’t focus on a problem to solve it. I do something careless, pointless, opposite, random. Something that has nothing to do with what you’re doing or wanting,” says Laurie Rosewald in recent Communication Arts interview.

She went on to make a really good point, “… “if I’m not surprising myself…I’m boring you.” That got me thinking. Making boo-boos is a wonderful way to learn. But to intentionally be careless throws up my red flag. I can see getting wacky to break out of a funk or something but as a creative professional, solving problems does involve certain amount of focus. A client will never buy, ” I meant to do that” crap.
