Link-free tweeting

I’m a huge Twitter fan. I love super-short form writing. It was invented for me, I swear. But recently, I’ve noticed that too many people are just tweeting links. I know “sharing” is important, but c’mon people. Dial back the link-filled tweets.

Confession: I rarely click on links in my stream. And when I’m on my phone, I never click. Why? Because it takes me away from Twitter and spoils the whole experience. They interrupt the magic. The perfect analogy is sex. When you’re in the mood, you want to stay in the mood, right? Well, nothing snuffs the passion like interruptions. Am I right? 🙂

I want to be clear. Links are fine. I use links and retweet links. In fact, I’ll probably tweet a link to this post. All I’m trying to say is that links are making your tweets less than desirable. But I may have a solution. More of a concept at this point, but I think my idea could rock your tweeting world. More on that later. For now, try to go #linkfree today and encourage others to do the same.

  1. My biggest pet peeve about twitter links is when someone posts a picture that needs to be loaded via a browser. I much prefer when it shows up in my stream.

  2. I hear ya. My big idea would try to address that. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it. 🙂
